There will be a number of events and challenges during the run of the show.  Some are competition-based, some are voted on by the visiting public.   As an attendee, you are welcome to participate in any, all or none of the challenges offered!

Standing Build

 Challenge: Your challenge will be to build a LEGO set to specific instructions without any provided surface to build on!

Restrictions: There will be no tables or surfaces to place pieces; you may not use the floor.

Winner: The builder who completes the set the fastest (after deductions for mistakes are added) will be the winner!

BRICKSPO Challenge
Coordinator: Adam D.
Duration: Saturday, Sunday, all day

Challenge: "Better by the Dozen": build a representation of 'twelve'!  A dozen donuts in a box!  Twelve Days of Christmas!  The Dirty Dozen!  Whatever your build, it should have some connection to 'twelve'.

Restrictions: You entry must fit within a 32x32 baseplate footprint with limited overhang.  There is no height restriction.

Winner: The entry that receives the most amount of votes from the public viewers will be awarded a keeper trophy and will have their name placed on the BRICKSPO Cup!

Right hand/Left hand

Challenge: This partner challenge will see one person only use their right hand, while their partner only uses their left.  Together they will build a LEGO set.

Restrictions: Once decided, participants may only use their chosen hands.  Any use of their alternate hand in any way will result in disqualification.

Winner: The builders who complete the set the fastest (after deductions for mistakes are added) will be the winner!

Wacky Races:
WDM Vehicles

Coordinator: Ray J.
Duration: Saturday, 2pm

Challenge: Choose a vehicle from the list of available vehicles on display at the WDM in Moose Jaw.  Replicate it to the best of your ability and prepare it to face the rigor of the Wacky Race events!

Restrictions: Vehicles must be gravity powered; no motors, pull-backs or rubber bands.  Max. dimensions: 32 studs wide, 64 studs long, no height limit with a 1kg weight allowance.  There are no other restrictions. 

Winner:  The winner of each category will be the vehicle with the greatest amount of points awarded in that category.  

Parts Draft

This is not a challenge, but rather an opportunity to pick up some good bits and pieces!  During the draft time, the set will be sorted and picked over by those participating in the draft.

Instruct/Build

Challenge: In teams of two, participants will assign themselves as either the 'builder' or the 'instructor'; the 'instructor' will have the set box and instructions while the 'builder' has the set's elements.  Standing apart, the 'instructor' will have to describe how to correctly assemble the set to the 'builder' who will complete the construction.

Restrictions: The pairs must remain apart for the duration of the build.  The 'builder' is not allowed to view the instructions or the box.

Winner: The builders who complete the set the fastest (after deductions for mistakes are added) will be the winner!

Build and Break

Challenge: This is not your typical speed build!  Participants will race to complete a LEGO set in an effort to be the first to return it back to its original loose elements.

Participants: TBD

Restrictions: No brick separators will be allowed at this event.  Participants will not be allowed to begin disassembly until the set has been thoroughly checked by the event team.

Winner: The builder who completes the set, gets it checked, and then disassembles it the fastest will be the winner!

Wacky Races:

Auction

This silent auction / reserve bid auction will begin at noon on the Saturday of the show and continue through the AFOL evening that night.  Be sure to check back often to see how your bids are holding up!  This an opportunity to pick up some interesting and unique items that SLUG has accumulated over the year.

A live auction will be hosted during the Saturday evening event.

All money raised will be donated to Fairy Bricks

Winner:  The winner will be the participant with the most correct answers.  Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 winners.

Theme Awards!
